Before i first entered our apartment, i have to admit, i was a little apprehensive. Shah said to me a few times that the apartment is quite small and he wasn't sure if i would be comfortable staying in it all day long. But i stayed positive. And turned out i had nothing to worry about. True, it isn't all that big but it's comfy enough for the both of us and for me to hang out in while waiting for him to come home from work. Shah was right about one thing though; i would love the colours and the modern decor.
So bear with me as i go anticlockwise around the apartment OK? Or as they call it, "aparthotel".
This is the entrance door.
There is a full-length mirror beside the door. The mirror is actually the door to a tiny closet, where we keep jackets, a vacum, an iron and ironing board.
Right beside the entrance is the door to the toilet.
Next to the toilet is the bathroom door.
We have the CUTEST toilet!
And this is our quaint bathroom.
There's a storage place, a bathtub and everything.
The door to the bedroom is located next to the bathroom door, facing the main entrance door. There are two hanging hooks, which we use to hang our pants, instead of jackets like normal people.
What you will first see when you open the door:
There is a swing door leading to a small balcony in the bedroom.
The view from the balcony; basically more apartments and some trees. And a building emitting some sort of steam. Or asap.
Above our queen-sized bed (Shah switched rooms just before i arrived; his previous room contained two single beds) is a photo of...somewhere in Paris.
We have one side table each; i store my makeup remover and sunshades and my leopard-print waist belt in the storage space.
This lotion is on my side table. It works loads better than my loyal Nivea Intensive Moisture lotion.
We have a two-door closet in the bedroom.
The living room is next door to the bedroom.
What you see when you peek through the door; and yes that's Shah, back for lunch hour. His office is so near that he comes home for lunch pretty much everyday (less to me and more to his Caca's food, to be honest). Which gets the apartment an A+++ from me even though i wished i could have a place of our own, decorated our way.
The living room viewed from where Shah stood:
There is a sliding door leading to the bedroom as well.
And of course a TV is provided, but i rarely turn it on because shows in English here are practically non-existent. I caught Drop Dead Diva the other day (which i don't follow) and once in a while Shah watches the news here (in English, good thing).
This is where i go online and update my blog! That's my darling nephew Rayray on the laptop screen, whom i miss so muchhh. You can see my French lamguage pack on the left and Sophie Kinsella's book on the right. On top of the book is a guide to shopping in Paris (edition 2010, but still useful!). My mouse pad is a piece of paper with the schedule for prayers. And my trustee Nivea lotion beside the laptop has to be right there.
The view from the window behind the laptop.
One of the apartments nearby has a bunch of red flowers that stand out in all the whites and greys and greens. So pretty!
On the main wall of the living room is this assortment of frames on a piece of decorated cardboard. I would have brought photos if i knew this thing were here. Maybe four photos of Rayyan and another of my family.
I absolutely ADORE this shade of soft purple. I want this shade in my PJ house! But Shah was like, "I think we have enough colours in the house, don't we?" and i answered, "The guest room is WHITE, Shah, we need to change that" and he said - OK, kesimpulannya he won and i lost. The guest room is staying white. For now, anyway...
Did you notice the window in the living room? It overlooks our tiny kitchen.
From the entrance, the kitchen is on your right.
I didn't have any problem with the size though as my kitchen in New Zealand was about the same size. Enough space to the washing, cutting and cooking, so good enough i say. There are tiny storage spaces on the bottom left too.
Almost everything is provided in the kitchen. There's a cute fridge at the bottom, a dishwasher next to it (which we don't use because we both never liked using it in NZ, so it's like tempat sidai pinggan to us), a coffeemaker (not used because we don't drink coffee), a water boiler, sponge and dish soap, knives and plates - pretty much everything. My only half-complaint is there isn't a chopping board. It's been a real challenge cutting up onions. Oh oh and the knives are not tajam at all. But it's all good, really.
So, yeh, that's it, really. So far i'm living comfortably, Alhamdulillah!
Till my next one. Weekend stories coming up! xxoo
